The Southwest Council of Agribusiness hosted Texas FSA State Executive Director Gary Six for a roundtable with the agriculture finance leaders of west Texas. During the event, Six introduced his staff, gave a brief statement and addressed concerns held by the lenders that ensure farmers have adequate capital to produce. Six, who brings over 30 years of FSA experience to the table, addressed the growing number of vacancies in the FSA system and pending retirements of seasoned field staff by familiarizing attendees with the FSA training process and encouraging lenders to refer candidates. Eddie Trevino, Executive Officer, mirrored Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue’s pledge to customer service by announcing the possibility of an FSA-facilitated training for lenders to increase awareness and understanding FSA programs. The meeting was a great success. For more information, visit the Texas FSA website or contact SWCA Executive Director, Jimmy Clark.
